Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I give to ST.E.T.H.S..?
Many individuals give to ST.E.T.H.S.
because they are grateful for the
opportunities their ST.E.T.H.S.. education
provided for them. Some give because they view
support of ST.E.T.H.S. as a good investment.
Others have an interest in seeing a particular
program grow and succeed.
Whatever your motivation, your individual
support makes a difference — for a student,
a professor or a program. Gifts of all sizes
are important because they enable us to remain
one of the best high school in the
Island
.
I already gave my annual contribution
to the Alumni Association, why is ST.E.T.H.S.
asking me for more?
Your annual Alumni Association membership
dues are just that — membership dues. They
pay for your alumni subscription, special
alumni events and various other administrative
costs. A separate gift to ST.E.T.H.S. will be
a direct investment in the school's students,
faculty and the entire ST.E.T.H.S.. community.
I do not want my contributions to go
into a black hole. How can I be sure my gift
supports the areas I want to support?
You decide where your gift goes simply by
designating the school or program of your
choice. Whether you give via mail, make a
pledge over the phone or donate online, you
will have the opportunity to tell us what to
do with your gift. Your hard earned dollars
will help the area you choose.
My gift of $10, $25, $50 or even $100
seems small. Will this make a difference?
Think about it — 10,000 gifts of $50
equals $500,000! Think of the impact this can
have on students' lives.
Are my gifts to ST.E.T.H.S. tax
deductible?
No. We are in the process of becoming a non
profit organization. Then all gifts will be
tax deductible to the fullest extent of the
law and you will receive an acknowledgement or
a gift receipt seven to ten days after you
make your gift.
How do I go about making a gift to
ST.E.T.H.S.?
There are a variety of ways to make a gift.
If you want to make an immediate cash gift,
the easiest way to do so is through our secure
online giving page. You may also send a
gift by mail.
Interested in planned giving? Making a
pledge for future payment? Check our giving
opportunities section for a variety of
ways to give.
Where are new gifts needed most?
Gifts from alumni and friends fill critical
funding to help ST.E.T.H.S. provide quality
education, and outreach opportunities. You can
review these funding
needs to find the best fit for your gift.
While most gifts to the School are designated
by the donor for specific purposes, some
donors prefer to designate their gift for use
where the School determines the need is
greatest.
What is an endowment?
An endowment is a long-term investment in
ST.E.T.H.S. that provides benefits to
students, faculty or programs year after year,
generation after generation. For endowed
funds, the donor stipulates that the principal
must be invested and all or a portion of the
income be expended to carry out the donor's
purpose. To guard against the eroding
consequences of inflation, the remaining
portion of investment return is then added to
the principal. The goal is to ensure that the
principal maintains its purchasing power over
time to support future generations.
How do I make a stock gift to
ST.E.T.H.S.?
Making a gift
of stock is easy, and it may save you
money on your capital gains tax.
